What to enjoy in Cape Town during May

Weather

May is still a good month to visit Cape Town.  The days are cooler and shorter, you may be tempted by fewer crowds and the fact sightseeing is easier and more accessible.

Days are still warm, with temperatures going up to 16C in the day, although nights are noticeably cooler, dropping down to 8 - 10 C.

What to do

Cape Town has stunning scenery and wonderful walking and hiking routes.  With dramatic Table Mountian, Lion's Head and picturesque coastline and excellent choice of restaurants, you will be spoiled for choice.

The cable car runs all year round (as long as the weather allows); take a ride on the cable car to the top of iconic Table Mountain to take in the full beauty of the Cape Peninsula.   

The City Of Cape Town lights up at night and provides a beautiful display.  Walking up Lion's Head is an unforgettable experience and getting up before dark, will ensure you will see a beautiful sunset over Cape Town.

Day outings to Cape Point, stopping off at Boulders Beach is a must to see the jackass penguins.  In May, the roads will be much quieter and access to attractions and restaurants, less time-consuming.

Winelands

A trip to the Cape Winelands is a breathtaking destination,  celebrated for its extraordinary wines, captivating history, scenic landscapes and delectable cuisine. Make a day or it or even two.

V & A Waterfront, is located in the oldest working harbour of the Southern Hemisphere.  With Table Mountain as its backdrop, the area is located within the city of Cape Town, welcoming visitors both locally and from all over the world.
